Lineworker - Arcadia, WI

We are seeking a full-time Lineworker to join our team at Riverland Energy Cooperative in Arcadia, WI!  

 

A Lineworker at Riverland Energy is responsible for constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in a safe, reliable and timely manner. This position will be located out of our Arcadia shop, with a 13-mile living requirement.  

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Perform assigned tasks as a crew member with minimal supervision, adhering to RUS, NEC, NESC, EPA, OSHA, DNR, and REC codes, safety regulations, and procedures.
  • Construct new overhead lines (1-3 phase) including framing, setting poles, stringing wires, installing equipment, hot line work, and loading/unloading materials, ensuring completion in a safe and timely manner.
  • Construct new single or three-phase underground lines, including transformer setup, cable installation, burying wire, setting up cabinets, hot line work, and material handling, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Safely operate line construction equipment such as derrick trucks, boom trucks, wire trucks, backhoes, trenchers, and tractors per REC procedures.
  • Develop a strong understanding of REC's organizational structure and coordinated operations.
  • Actively participate in safety training programs and apply safety codes, rules, and procedures consistently.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the public while performing duties. 

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Line Technician Certificate from a certified vocational/technical school or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of 4-year Lineworker Apprenticeship preferred.  

Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Ability to apply problem solving, logic or reasoning skills to daily tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one conversations with employees of the Cooperative, contractors, and members.

Summer Help

Riverland Energy Cooperative is currently seeking to fill six (6) Seasonal Temporary Labor openings to join each of our line crews at the Arcadia, Alma, and Holmen, WI locations. Candidates must possess an Electrical Power Distribution certificate of completion and a valid CDL. These positions will begin with the start of our construction season and conclude around November. At this time, these are strictly temporary positions with no plans to hire long term.
